JULIA LOGAN (SE)
The music heard on Julia Logan’s debut album, Everly Foreverly, was made in close collaboration with First Aid Kit’s producer, Daniel Bengtson. Together with them in the studio, they brought in American drummer Kyle Crane (Kurt Vile, Daniel Lanois, Madison Cunningham), guitarist Peter Morén (Peter Bjorn and John), Sofia Kristensen (Majvi) on piano and backup vocals, and a featured duet-cover with Nina Persson (The Cardigans). The album received positive reviews by Swedish magazines (Gaffa, Nöjesguiden, Aftonbladet) as well as internationally (Shindig Magazine, Clash Magazine), and was nominated for Singer-Songwriter of the year at 2023 Manifestgalan awards. During this time, she also opened for Courtney Marie Andrews, Neko Case, Madison Cunningham, and Sarah Klang.
Teaming up again with her producer and co-writer Daniel Bengtson, Julia’s sophomore album explores themes of personal fears and changes, isolation, loss, getting older, hope, and finding your place in the world. The album will be called “Faraway Nearby,” inspired by the painter Georgia O’keeffe. During the writing and recording process, Julia and Daniel took influences from Fleetwood Mac, Midlake, Joan Didion, Francoise Hardy, Bruce Springsteen, Lucio Battisti, Eve Babitz, and Nick Drake. Many of the songs were written on piano and acoustic guitar — owing to a sonic mood that evoke feelings of yearning melancholy and hope.
March 22nd the first taste of the new album will be released. The new single is called ”Top of the World” and is the first release on Julia’s new label Dumont Dumont.
