Ronja Maltzahn (DE)

Ronja Maltzahn (DE). Ronja defines herself first as a storyteller, taking the listener on a musical journey around the world with songs in different languages whilst playing Cello, Guitar, Ukulele or Piano. After meeting her Argentinian music partner Federico (Bass, Guitar, Piano), since 2018, they have toured 16 countries, playing over 350 concerts and produced three studio albums that range from Folk to Pop, encountering a variety of often divergent music genres like BossaNova or Lofi ChillHop. Their songs are either composed or translated into English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Ukrainian, Russian and Swedish. In 2021 Ronja was nominated for the Folk prize “Dieter-Wasilke” and won the prestigious Panik prize by the Udo Lindenberg Stiftung for German newcomers. Their genre is Worldpop. The sound of wanderlust. Over the years the duo is often accompanied by The BlueBird Orchestra, a collective of musicians from north Germany. This creates an positively atypical scenario: a show from Ronja Maltzahn might take you on a folksy and reflective journey as an acoustic duo, or you might as well encounter a mind bending orchestral pop show with 15 performers on stage and visual art displays. Between the clouds of haze, lights and bubbles, the show transmits more than musical diversity. This is about conveying an attitude towards life, of freedom, peacefulness and imagination…
